Capinero Creek Restoration
The main objective of the Capinero Creek acquisition is to protect and restore alkali scrub habitat for threatened and endangered species in the South San Joaquin Valley.
Initial Conservation Transactions
The Trust has received grant funding from the Bureau of Reclamation to acquire five parcels totaling 467 acres adjacent to the Pixley National Wildlife Refuge. Funding for the Trust would support the ongoing work needed to complete the acquisition and the next step of restoration of the site.
The primary objective of the Capinero Creek acquisition is to protect and restore alkali scrub habitat for threatened and endangered species in the Southern San Joaquin Valley. The resources developed through the Capinero Creek Project would support both groundwater sustainability and ecosystem enhancement in the Tule Subbasin.
The project includes the following specific objectives:
1. Negotiate and purchase the Capinero Creek property from the landowner
2. Develop a habitat restoration, management, and monitoring plan for the Property
3. Implement the habitat restoration plan on the Property
